 ay.com\n\nAcclaimed for his stellar stage presence and joyous musicianship
 \, cellist Sterling Elliott is a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient 
 and the winner of the Senior Division of the 2019 National Sphinx Competit
 ion. Already in his young career\, he has appeared with major orchestras s
 uch as the Philadelphia Orchestra\, the New York Philharmonic\, the Boston
  Symphony\, the Cleveland Orchestra\, the Los Angeles Philharmonic\, the D
 etroit Symphony\, and the Dallas Symphony\, with noted conductors Yannick 
 Nezet-Seguin\, Thomas Wilkins\, Jeffrey Kahane\, Mei Ann Chen\, and others
 .\n\nThis season\, Elliott debuts with the Minnesota Orchestra\, Grand Rap
 ids Symphony\, Charlotte Symphony\, Pacific Symphony\, San Antonio Symphon
 y\, and New Jersey Symphony. He also performs the world premiere of a new 
 orchestral version of John Corigliano’s Phantasmagoria\, commissioned fo
 r him by a consortium of orchestras\, including the Orlando Philharmonic a
 nd music director Eric Jacobsen. He makes his UK recital debut at Wigmore 
 Hall in February.\n\nThe 2022-2023 season saw his debuts at the Aspen Musi
 c Festival\, performing the Brahms Double Concerto with Gil Shaham\, as we
 ll as with the Colorado Symphony\, Cincinnati Symphony\, North Carolina Sy
 mphony\, and Ft. Worth Symphony\, among others. He appeared in recitals un
 der the auspices of the San Francisco Symphony\, the New York Philharmonic
 \, Shriver Hall in Baltimore\, the Tippett Rise Festival\, and Capitol Reg
 ion Classical in Albany\, NY.\n\nFast becoming a favorite on the summer fe
 stival circuit\, Sterling has appeared at Music@Menlo\, Chamberfest in Cle
 veland and Chamberfest Northwest in Calgary\, Music at Angel Fire\, and th
 e La Jolla Music Society. In the Summer of 2023\, he made his orchestral d
 ebut with the San Francisco Symphony\, performed chamber music with Nicola
  Benedetti\, Stefan Jackiw\, and others at the Edinburgh Festival\; and ma
 de a return appearance at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharm
 onic.\n\nSterling Elliott participates in several programs alongside excep
 tionally talented young artists. In April 2023\, he was selected by The Ch
 amber Music Society of Lincoln Center for its Bowers Program\, a three-yea
 r residency. As a Bowers Program artist\, he will perform in CMS tours nat
 ionally and play subscription concerts at Alice Tully Hall. In June 2023\,
  the London-based Young Classical Artists Trust named him their YCAT–Mus
 ic Masters Robey Artist\, a two-year program during which YCAT will provid
 e UK booking and management\, and Sterling will fulfill an ambassadorial r
 ole\, leading workshops and engaging with young learners in schools across
  London to inspire and enhance their musical education. In Spring 2022\, S
 terling participated in Performance Today’s Young Artist Residency\, whi
 ch featured educational events\, interviews\, and a feature on the nationa
 lly syndicated radio program.\n\nSterling has a long history with the Sphi
 nx Organization\, where he won the 2014 Junior Division Competition\, beco
 ming the first alumnus from the Sphinx Performance Academy to win the Sphi
 nx Competition. The following year\, he went on tour with the Sphinx Virtu
 osi before being awarded the Organization’s Isaac Stern Award in 2016. T
 his season\, Sterling will receive a Sphinx Medal of Excellence\, the high
 est honor bestowed by the Sphinx Organization\, awarded to artists who\, e
 arly in their career\, demonstrate artistic excellence\, outstanding work 
 ethic\, a spirit of determination\, and an ongoing commitment to leadershi
 p and their communities.\n\nBorn into a musical household\, Sterling initi
 ally wanted to play the violin like his older brother and sister. After a 
 bit of encouragement\, he completed The Elliott Family String Quartet\, an
  ensemble that enjoyed personalized arrangements of genres such as bluegra
 ss\, gospel\, and funk music.\n\nSterling is pursuing an Artist Diploma at
  the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Joel Krosnick and Clara Kim\, 
 following completion of his Master of Music and undergraduate degrees at J
 uilliard. He is an ambassador of the Young Strings of America\, a string s
 ponsorship operated by Shar Music. He performs on a 1741 Gennaro Gagliano 
 cello on loan through the Robert F. Smith Fine String Patron Program in pa
 rtnership with the Sphinx Organization.\n\n\n\n“Janice Carissa has been

 lassical Review) She has garnered great acclaims at renowned concert halls
 \, including the Sydney Opera House\, Carnegie Hall\, United Nations\, Ken
 nedy Center\, Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park\, Louis Vuitton Fou
 ndation\, Saratoga Performing Arts Center.\n\nFollowing her Philadelphia O
 rchestra debut at age sixteen\, Janice has substituted Andre Watts as solo
 ist with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and gone on to perform with the Kansas 
 City\, Amarillo\, Des Moines\, John Hopkins\, St. Peters by the Sea\, Symp
 hony in C\, Eastern Wind\, Bay Atlantic and Midwest Young Artist symphonie
 s. In 2023\, she will be a featured soloist with Sacramento Philharmonic\,
  Promusica Chamber Orchestra\, Curtis Symphony Orchestra\, and the Tacoma 
 and Battlecreek symphonies.\n\nJanice's passion for chamber music has lead
  her to performances with Brooklyn Chamber Music Society and Jupiter Chamb
 er Concert Series\; collaborations with Vadim Gluzman\, Miriam Fried\, Pau
 l Neuebauer\, Lucy Shelton\, Marcy Rosen\, David Shifrin\, Jennifer Cano\,
  Peter Wiley\, among other distinguished musicians\; and appearances at Ma
 rlboro\, North Shore\, Ravinia\, Caramoor\, and Kneisel Hall festivals.\n\
 nA pupil of Gary Graffman and Robert McDonald\, Janice left Indonesia in 2
 013 and entered the Curtis Institute of Music with full scholarship from G
 erry and Marguerite Lenfest. Now graduated with a Bachelor's Degree\, she 
 is presently pursuing her Master’s Degree at The Juilliard School with R
 obert McDonald. When away from the piano\, Janice is an avid foodie and lo
 ves going on strolls with her camera.\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSe
 nse and Sensibility\n\nThis program begins with the turbulent romanticism 
 of Scriabin’s impassioned sonata. Followed by Janáček’s exotic fairy
  tale\, we find an emotional anchor in the majestic masterpiece by Brahms.
