Hailed by critics as “a grand departure from the usual” (News Herald), the Manhattan Piano Trio has performed hundreds of concerts across the United States, with appearances at venues including Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall and the Ravinia Festival. The Washington Post described the trio as “impressive” and “outstanding,” while the Sarasota Herald-Tribune noted performances of “a wide range of styles” delivered with “self-effacing skill and relaxed assurance.” Their recording of Schumann and Chopin trios was released on the Marquis Classics label.

Formed in 2004, the Manhattan Piano Trio won top prizes at the Plowman and Yellow Springs competitions and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Listeners’ Choice Award at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. The ensemble has performed widely in major concert halls as well as smaller venues, with appearances including the Kravis Performing Arts Center, Chamber Music Sedona and Pro Musica Detroit as well as tours to South Africa and Italy.

Program

Beethoven — Variations on an Original Theme in E-flat Major, Op. 44
Mendelssohn — Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor, Op. 49
Ravel — Piano Trio

For one night only, pianist Milana Strezeva — executive and artistic director and co-founder of Grand Piano Series — reunites with the Manhattan Piano Trio, the ensemble hailed by The Washington Post as “impressive” and “outstanding.” Joined by violinist Wayne Lee and cellist Dmitry Kouzov, the trio brings its dynamic approach and remarkable range to a program spanning styles and eras — from the cheeky wit of Beethoven and the soaring lyricism of Mendelssohn to the vibrantly colored textures of Ravel.
