It beg an with Soirée Japonaise\, a program highlighting the interplay between W estern and Japanese aesthetics through the music of Debussy\, Takemitsu\, Shishido\, and Bussad (world premiere of the piano cycle Moon Inside I). T he musical eclecticism and thematic unity of this program inspired a conti nuing exploration of connections between new or rarely heard works and mas terpieces of the standard piano repertory in subsequent Kaleidoscope conce rts. All concerts feature brief presentations about the works prior to eac h performance\, given by the performers or composers themselves.
