DESCRIPTION:About the Event\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed to acquaint 
 students with the life and times of\n\nJohann Sebastian Bach.\n\n• What 
 was life like during the 1600 and 1700s?\n\n• What was Bach’s educatio
 n?\n\n• Did he attend a school where music was taught?\n\n• Did his mu
 sic differ from composers before his time?\n\nExcerpts of Bach’s works a
 nd important vocabulary will be introduced to\n\ndescribe the form and sty
 le of his music.\n\nDR. BERTRAM GREENSPAN is a noted violinist and conduct
 or who is a professor emeritus at Rowan University (NJ). He received his e
 arly training in Chicago\, at the Juilliard School of Music and earned his
  Masters and Doctor of Music degrees at Indiana University in Bloomington\
 , Indiana.\n\nAmong his honors and awards are the gold Medal and Diplome d
 ’Honneur of the Foundation Eugene Ysaye of Brussels\, Belgium\, the Dist
 inguished Service Award of the American String Teachers Association - NJ C
 hapter and the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award by Rowan University.\
 n\nHis performance career has included appointments as Concertmaster of th
 e Chicago Chamber Orchestra and the orchestras of Lancaster\, PA and Readi
 ng\, PA. His solo and chamber music performances have received praise from
  critics in Philadelphia\, NYC\, The Hague and Vienna to name a few.\n\nHe
  served as Assistant Conductor of the Reading Symphony Orchestra and has b
 een the Conductor of All-State and Regional Youth Orchestra in New Jersey\
 , Pennsylvania\, Maine\, and Illinois. At Rowan University he conducted th
 e Symphony Orchestra\, String Orchestra and Opera Company Productions.\n\n
