SUMMARY:Asiya Korepanova
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nAsiya Korepanova "Pianistic Powerhouse..."  The only pia
nist currently performing Liszt's 24 Etudes as a single program and one of
few to tout a concerto list that features over 60 works\, Asiya Korepanov
a is a pianistic powerhouse and rapidly rising star. A result of her uncom
promising dedication to the arts\, Ms. Korepanova is recognized not only f
or her achievements as a pianist\, but also for her work as a transcriber\
 , composer\, visual artist\, and poet.\n\n\n\n\nAsiya’s contributions to
the solo piano literature —including her historic solo piano transcript
ion of Richard Strauss’ “Ein Heldenleben” and that of Rachmaninof
 f 's Cello Sonata—have given her a place among today’s formidable tran
scribers. A number of her transcriptions have been recorded through her Y
ouTube vlog project\, 'Midnight Pieces'. Launched in September\, 2017\, A
siya shares 53 performances of short works. Among these are well-known wo
 rks\, Russian compositions\, obscure works\, and original transcriptions.\
nThe pianist who performed the complete Rachmaninoff solo piano works wit
hin the composer’s 150th-anniversary year in 2023\, Asiya Korepanova is
a pianistic powerhouse hailed as a "tremendously gifted pianist who exhibi
ts a singular affinity for Rachmaninoff’s Russian romantic idiom and pos
sesses the blazing technique to fully realize his distinctive scores" (Sou
th Florida Classical Review)\, who is also highly recognized as a composer
\, visual artist\, and poet.\n A herald of an enormous repertoire encompa
ssing over 60 piano concertos and solo works ranging from early Baroque
period to music of living composers\, Asiya is a quintessential completist
.\nShe finds unique joy in performing collections of works such as the 24
Liszt Etudes or the entire Well-Tempered Clavier by Bach. Her emotionally
charged and colorfully nuanced performances have gained her the admiration
of audiences and resulted in many repeat engagements.\n Asiya\, a pianis
t and composer\, draws her musical inspiration from the legacy of Dmitry S
hostakovich\, having studied composition under his direct disciple\, Alber
t Leman.\nShe is the author of original works in multiple genres and instr
umentations. Her historic solo piano transcriptions of Richard Strauss’
  'Ein Heldenleben'\, Rachmaninoff's Cello Sonata\, Tchaikovsky's 'Manfred
' Symphony\,  Mussorgsky's 'Songs and Dances of Death' have placed her a
mong today’s formidable transcribers\, and attracted attention of  worl
d-renown pianists such as Lang Lang and Polina Osetinskaya\, who commissio
ned and recorded Asiya's transcriptions.\nThe most recent composition e
vents include the world premiere recording of Asiya’s concerto for alto
saxophone and piano\, Poéme\, performed by Thomas Giles and Liana Pailod
ze Harron\; the publication of her transcription of Rachmaninoff's cello
sonata\; the premiere of her Piano Quintet ‘I marvel at the sky’\, com
missioned by the Third Dimension Music Festival\; and the premiere of Con
Brio for two pianos\, performed with her duo partner Ilya Kazantsev as a p
art of the Dranoff Two Piano Foundation series. \nAn avid chamber musicia

rin\, the Balourdet Quartet\, the Hermitage Piano Trio\, Milena Pajaro-van
de Stadt\, Rodney Marsalis\, Julian Schwarz\, Eleni Katz\, Irina Muresanu
\, and Alexander Fiterstein. She regularly performs as part of the '88 by
20' piano duo with her friend and former classmate\, Grammy-nominated pian
ist Ilya Kazantsev.\n Uninhibited in her artistic expression\, Asiya is a
lso sought after her work as a visual artist and poet. Her multimedia pro
jects featuring original poetry and visual art serve as interpretive comm
entary for a particular cycle of piano works. These cycles include Liszt
 ’s Transcendental Etudes\, Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier\, Tchaikovsk
 y’s 18 Morceaux\, Op. 72\, and\, most recently\, Mussorgsky's Pictures a
t an Exhibition. Asiya's live performances of these compositions have asto
unded audiences and organizers alike.\n Caring about the development of s
 ociety\, in 2017 Asiya founded Music for Minds\, a non-profit organizatio
n that brings classical performances into classrooms and creates music fes
tivals featuring unique programming. From 2017 through 2019\, Asiya direct
ed her brainchild 'Festival Baltimore\,' a two-week chamber music series a
nd summer academy dedicated to the performance and study of complete cycle
s\, one of Music for Mind's projects. Her new concert series\, 'Flatiron F
estival'\, premiered in June 2025 in New York City and scheduled to contin
ue in 2026.\n Born in Izhevsk\, Russia\, to a musical family\, Asiya bega
n learning the piano at 4 years old from her mother Soreya\, her first pia
no teacher. At the age of 6\, she was taught to read music in orchestral c
lefs by her father Sergey\, an exemplary composer\, and started composing
her own music. At 9\, she made her orchestral debut\, playing Mozart Conce
rto No. 8 with her own cadenza\, and gave her first full philharmonic reci
tal.\n Simultaneously\, she began studying composition with Albert Leman\
, the chair of Moscow Conservatory's composition department and a student
of Dmitry Shostakovich\, continuing working with him until his passing in
1998. That short period has influenced all future aspects of her musical a
nd artistic development.\n In 2012\, Asiya moved to the United States at
the invitation of renowned pianist and maestro Santiago Rodriguez\, to ear
n a Doctoral degree under his guidance at the University of Miami. Later t
hat year\, she was awarded the Gold Medal at the Nena Wideman Internationa
l Piano Competition—an achievement that proved invaluable in establishin
g her concertizing career in the U.S. In 2017\, she added a University of
Miami Artist Diploma degree to her portfolio\, having earned it in the stu
dios of Kevin Kenner and Tian Ying.\n Asiya has since continued to garner
national attention with performances at the Stern Auditorium at Carnegie
Hall\, the Phillips Collection\, the Newport Classical Festival\, Miami In
ternational Piano Festival\, San Francisco International Piano Festival\,
and many other notable series\, symphony orchestras\, and festivals throug
